Hello,
I have been using Poedit to translate my theme. Everything has gone swimmingly, except, two bits.
Sorry, no members were found.
— this is when you click on a members profile friends tab and they have no friends, or in my case I have blocked all viewings of friends.
—- I want to change this to ” You cannot see another members Connections” or very similar
and
All Groups
— This is the tab title when in the group directory.
— I want to change this to “Public Groups” as it make a lot more sense.
I have done a lot of the site. Changing Friends too Connections and a few others, all successfully. Is there something unique about these two?
Many Thanks
Leigh
Hello,
Surprisingly no reply, but I have also found a couple of other missed bits.
My Friends —tab — this is in the members directory
My Friends —tab — This is in the activity directory
Bot of these I want to change to “Connections”
The translation files are not having any effect on these either as my previous post.
@leighgregg these are all BuddyPress translatable words. You may want to post in their forums.
Sadly this isn’t the issue. going to twentytwelve all the translations are working as expected. It is a theme issue. I think I am going back to use twentytwelve as this theme is just too glitchy right now.
A couple of examples where twentytwelve does this correctly, and buddyboss does not.
My apologies, it appears we do have a few areas that could cause this issue. Here are the locations so you can change them manually:

Hello. Yes, ai was looking at those before..my concern is for other langauges, and if there are any other slight changes, manually changing each one is a bit time consuming. Is rhis going to be fixed?
Thanks
I think when I tried to manually change them recently, as a test, it crashed the entire site… I had to go in and return the words exactly as the where to get the site back up and running again.
@leighgregg changing these manually should not crash your site unless you forget an apostrophe or some other syntax error causing character.
I’ll test these out myself and see if our devs can get the language file working with these words.
Thanks,
This issue is ringing alarm bells for me. Have I just chosen the “only” words that have this issue? Or am I going to be with a big problem ahead of me when having multi-language translations? I would prefer to know now and look for another theme I won’t have more “issues” with and develop the project with confidence.
Thanks
@leighgregg this should not be an issue. Language translations are fairly straight forward. Let me investigate this tomorrow morning and I’ll have more. Thanks!
Hello, any news on this? I would like to have it off my mind, to know I can perform full translations would be nice.
Thanks
@leighgregg after extensive testing I was unable to replicate your results. I was able to translate the phrases using the po/mo file without any issues whatsoever. Do you have any of the above listed files copied to your child theme? Are you using any plugins that may be preventing this update from occurring? Any caching plugins installed? Any other non-standard settings I should be aware of? Are you placing the language files in your child theme or parent theme?
Hello,
I have had the buddypress-en_GB.po and buddypress-en_GB.mo in
wp-content/languages/
No special plugins.
I’ve been looking around a bit and seen suggestions about specifying the child theme to hold the language files. Not sure if this is the case with the buddyboss child theme though.
Caching plugins are installed but have been cleared many times. They all work when going to twentytwelve, but this isn’t a child theme.
Thanks
@leighgregg where are you placing the BuddyBoss language files?
