Question
June 21, 2015 at 12:42 am #41433@davidrsmI notice that you have a really nice LIKE button in the demo of Boss… but I can’t seem to figure out how to add it to my site. Is it a setting, or a plugin?
Thanks!

AlyssaParticipant@davidrsm in the demo we are using several BuddyBoss plugins. The one you are referring to is the BuddyBoss Wall plugin. Not only does the plugin add a like button to all activity posts but it also creates a FaceBook like wall where you can see content only pertaining to you ie. said by you or mentioned you directly in a post (tagged)
June 22, 2015 at 2:39 pm #41484@davidrsmThanks – I went ahead and purchased the plugin — but I’m noticing that my site isn’t behaving the same way your Demo site does.
When I’m in groups, and click LIKE or reply, it redraws the entire webpage.
I made a video with screen-recording showing exactly what’s happening on my website vs. what your Buddyboss Boss demo does.

AlyssaParticipant@davidrsm this sounds like a plugin conflict. Many plugins like to hijack the ajax script which is a big no-no. Try disabling other plugins and test it again and I’m sure you will find that it works again. Then enable plugins and test one by one until you discover which one is causing the conflict.
June 22, 2015 at 7:18 pm #41495@davidrsmI just disabled ALL my plugins except Buddypress, bb press and the plugins from you guys and the problem still persists.
I even deleted plugins not being used.
Do you think there’s an issue with the installation of the Buddyboss theme? How would I go about re-installing it without losing my content?
Would I just switch to another theme, then delete Boss, then re-install??

AlyssaParticipant@davidrsm I don’t think it would be an issue with the theme. I think it would be an issue with WordPress or BuddyPress. BuddyPress is a simple delete and reupload. WordPress would be more tricky I think. Don’t worry, all your data should stay in it’s place. But to be safe you should download a BuddyPress backup plugin. Any one of them will do. Then try deleting and redownloading BuddyPress. Might want to check WordPress support how to update all files. You might be able to download a fresh copy and simply overwrite files via FTP, but I’m not sure if this is their preferred method.
June 23, 2015 at 5:00 pm #41544@davidrsmSo I have re-installed WordPress and reinstalled Buddypress, and even updated the Boss theme to the latest version and this issue is still happening.
It’s weird that it works fine in the Activity feed, but it’s only in the Groups that it’s not working properly (as show in the video)…
Any more ideas?

AlyssaParticipant@davidrsm there is a slight chance this has to do with WPEngine. What I suggest you do is try activating the TwentyFifteen theme. See if you have the same issue with that theme. If you have the same issue then I’m going to suggest contacting WPEgine to help troubleshoot the issue. The error logs they have access to may include details as to why the admin ajax is not function properly with bbPress groups.
June 23, 2015 at 8:29 pm #41548@davidrsmthanks for the ideas. I switched themes and the issue still persists. Wow that theme is ugly 🙂 Really reminds ya how much nicer Boss is!!
Okay I’ll contact WP Engine. Thanks!
