Question
July 29, 2015 at 2:16 pm #43554@kahunaburgerI have a few questions about your blog article from 5 years ago:
Auto-join new users to a BuddyPress group
1. Does that still work?
2. Can you do it for multiple Groups.
3. Is there a way to use it for current users as well?
Thanks

July 29, 2015 at 2:50 pm #43555@jeanpierrehttps://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-user-registration-auto-group/
you can easily search with your keywords in the ” Admin >> Plugins >> Install ” section of your site…
July 29, 2015 at 3:23 pm #43556@kahunaburger@jeanpierre that’s not what I was asking or what his post was about.
Now there is this plugin:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-auto-group-join/
But it hasn’t been updated in 4 years. I also heard some people had issues with it. So, that’s why I decided to ask. I don’t like trusting my database to something older than a Presidential term. 😉
July 29, 2015 at 3:46 pm #43557@jeanpierredamn, my copy/paste took the link before the one i was supposed to send… my fault
btw you are absolutely right, never trust something older than the actual version…
i’ll see what i can do to upgrade that script to the latest, in the next week-end, if you are ok to wait a little… the script is not complicated, i just have too much kids to focus on that today… 🙂
July 29, 2015 at 4:00 pm #43558@jeanpierreok, so here we have something “better”… one of the core dev at Buddypress loaded this snippet that i transformed as a plugin…
http://imathi.eu/2014/08/14/autojoin-groups/
as you can see in the first screeny,
you simply have to go in the Groups manager page and select the group/s you want the new registrant to be joined automatically…
you can go at the official page and ask for more features if you want.
July 29, 2015 at 4:02 pm #43560@jeanpierrefor “current users”, a simple sql query could be written… i can provide it to you if you need.
July 29, 2015 at 4:06 pm #43563@kahunaburgerIf you can do that I’ll that would be great!!! 🙂
I tried the plugin on our dev site and it kind of worked. It subscribed everyone but times out our database. Of course we have 20,000 members on our dev site (70k+ on our live site). It would be great if it could do it in batches.
Thanks
July 29, 2015 at 4:10 pm #43565@kahunaburgerI read before I posted this, but I wasn’t sure if it added existing users My French is also a bit rusty. 🙂
July 29, 2015 at 4:14 pm #43568@kahunaburgerMy replies are a bit behind yours. 🙂 It would be great if you could add that. Researching this I know there are a lot of people looking to do this.
July 29, 2015 at 5:11 pm #43573@jeanpierreyeah, i know.. i’ll see what i can do for a complete version, but basically, the tool from iMath is complete… a query for “existing users” is a click away, i’ll have it tomorrow…
