    Please consider making a merged widget Sensei course participants + Who’s online. Or alternatively, providing additional infos on the comprehensive Members widget (like: recently active in … course / learning group / forum).

    The background: I am reading about how to facilitate real-time interaction and synchronous learning online. A first step would be to show course participants the other course participants who are online for real-time interaction in the associated learning group.

    This widget should then go into the sidebar of the course, the learning group and the discussion forum opened for this learning group.

    I have an idea:
    You could take the BuddyPress Members widget, match it with sensei course participants and who’s online add that info to this widget. Like that there would be one widget that we could add to a variety of sidebars, and the users would get acquainted to it.

    Re. Sensei course participants: You could add an extra tab and offer a possibility to select the tabs to be displayed. Like that it would be possible to chose between “active” and “course participants”.

    For showing who’s online: You might use the border around the member picture (in my color scheme turquois) and use it to indicate who’s online. The people currently logged out get a grey border.

    Re. widget visibility: It should obviously be possible to display the course participants (online or all) in the discussion forum and learning groups that are associated with the course.

    Re. forum activity: there is an interesting “Latest activity” widget that merges the recent topics and replies with indication of the relevant forum. It is available with the bbp style pack plugin. One flaw it has though: all private forums are not displayed showing the activity entry with gaps.

    Maybe you could build on that.
