I have made some progress with a plugin called BuddyForms. I’ve had to tweak it a bit to suit, the author has kindly taken some of my needs as suggestions and updated the plugin, and there are a few issues outstanding which I think I’m going to have to live without for the time being.

Hi guys!

looking at these forums, I can see the @name name is printed beneath the profile picture.
How can I turn this on in my website?
I’ve uploaded a beta of my website here

Is there an auto suggestion option for the mentions?
example, if somebody starts typing @bor he/she will be suggested @boris-kamp?
