This is resolved.
Hey @tjchester… I tried to delete the above Reply #40476 as I should have started a new thread. I’ll go ahead and do that now. I did’t mean to double post, but I don’t believe it is possible for me to edit an old post. Feel free to delete if needed and again thank you for your help.

Nice @tjchester – that worked and now I am also utilizing that custom.css file for a bunch of things.

Once question. Do you know how to remove the friend count on the profile picture. The one that says “0 friends”
Now I now it can be removed in CSS, but I was wondering if there was a way to actually filter it out in PHP so that I can use a…[Read more]

@tjchester I tried the code above and it removed the left buddypanel initially. However, it still shows the hamburger icon at the top and then if that is clicked, it will still open up an empty buddypanel. Is there anyway to completely remove the buddypanel including the hamburger menu as well?
I do agree there should be a simple option to…[Read more]

Kramer replied to the question Visibility, Member Types, Profile Types, User Types in the forum Boss. theme 9 years, 9 months ago
Yeah I’ve read that and that is how I registered the member types and I even used it to mess with some of the loops… but it doesn’t really do much as of now other than just allowing you to register the type. It is more a buddypress update in the right direction and I am sure more things will come out of it involving privacy and visibility as…[Read more]

So I have been researching for days now and I guess having different member types is complicated. I have successfully registered member types, but haven’t been able to do much with it. As I researched I realized that maybe I am not using the correct terminology.
So… when it comes to visibility. We seem to have the options of showing certain…[Read more]

Hey @tjchester.
While it would be awesome for non-devs to have all the functionality with a pop out menu on the front-end etc… is there anyway for someone to just hack in the old school admin bar? I know some people buy the theme and never want to go into the backend, but it would be great if there was a hack just for admins to move around. I…[Read more]

Is there something similar we can do for this in order to allow basically the admin bar for admins only across the board?
I find myself missing WP_Query for debugging on a page as well as the User Switching in Admin Bar plugin.
Prior to Boss, I could utilize my admin bar for WP_Query and I could easily switch users and switch back while testing…[Read more]

Hey @tjchester
So I went into the profile loop and commented out several do_actions and noticed the social links disappear… now I know the appropriate way to do this would be to remove the action hooks in the functions.php file and I understand it is important to hook into the right area…. but I am relatively new with hooks and their actions…[Read more]

I am sure I could figure this out, but I was hoping someone could tell me quickly how to remove all that social stuff from the base profile. I may want to add it later in a different way, but for now it is kinda extra stuff getting in my way.

Kramer replied to the question Block Members Page in the forum BuddyPress (general issues) 9 years, 9 months ago
Yeah, that is exactly what I want. I have a closed site. So it’s not too bad. I don’t know if this is Hacky… but here is what I have done at the top of my profile loop and something similar in my EDIT loop.
Basically, I see if they are a member of a certain type and if they aren’t I go with the default group and exclude the group I don’t…[Read more]

Thank you Jean-Pierre. I do have a bit of ADD going on there 🙂 So I did the above recommendations. Thank you.
Can I show different profile groups to different member types? My goal is to allow sign up of Clients and Customers. I would have two different membership “types” if you will. So if someone signs in/up as a client they would fill…[Read more]

So really getting into the boss theme and buddypress in general. I didn’t realize all day yesterday that everything defaulted was in the bplegacy file 🙂 Geez… I think since I am new that wasn’t obvious too me. That said, Boss theme is boss and I get now that we have to overwrite the bp-legacy files in a plugin or child theme or bp-custom.…[Read more]
