Don’t change the body background, change the html background property. I know that’s bad behaviour, but it did work for me in nearly every browser.

a similar problem exists with the status update box (where I can enter the text):
I click inside and it resizes, but when I click outside, it does not shrink again. This also does work when I activate the default theme.
