kalico replied to the question Modify BuddyPress Admin Bar/Profile Menu (Upper Right Menu) in the forum BuddyBoss theme 8 years, 10 months ago
Thanks @vapvarun. I’ll take a look at that. It hasn’t been updated in 2 years, so hopefully it’s still accurate. I wish BuddyPress would do a better job of maintaining their documentation.

kalico started the question Modify BuddyPress Admin Bar/Profile Menu (Upper Right Menu) in the forum BuddyBoss theme 8 years, 11 months ago
In BuddyPress, there is a dropdown menu at the upper righ, in the admin bart — some call it a profile menu, others an admin menu (see screenshot). I’ve searched far and wide, and I can’t find *trustworthy* information on how to modify it. Everything I find is either outdated, of questionable origin, or poorly explained/documented (such that I…[Read more]

I have a multisite on which I use BuddyPress and BuddyBoss and the BuddyBoss Wall plugin. I also use a plugin called BP Group Announcements.
Just recently, I ran into a problem posting in groups using the BP Group Announcements plugin. The content field gets hung after I type in a URL. You can see this issue described and a screenshot here.

Thanks, that seems to be the answer to all my questions lately. 🙂
For the record, I deleted this question because I discovered the answer on my own, and didn’t want to bother anyone trying to sort it out for me.
I used the “delete” button next to the entry on my profile, where it lists my activities. This question is no longer listed….but…[Read more]

kalico started the question Login/Register buttons on non-BuddyPress site in the forum BuddyBoss theme 9 years, 11 months ago
This might seem counterproductive…but here’s what I’m doing: I have a multi-site install of WP for one company, with each subsite handling a different piece of the site functionality. One (the main) site is a community, running BuddyPress and BuddyBoss. I want all the sub-sites to match the theme of the community, but have slightly different…[Read more]

kalico replied to the question Overlapping Ugliness when clicking (+) for subgroups in the forum BuddyBoss theme 10 years, 2 months ago
Well, well, well. Lookee there! It worked! Thanks, TJ.
Now I’m wondering why I put that line in there in the first place…and moreover, wondering why I didn’t comment it. (Grr…..)
In any case, it’s all better now. Many grateful thanks, TJ.

kalico replied to the question Overlapping Ugliness when clicking (+) for subgroups in the forum BuddyBoss theme 10 years, 2 months ago
Thanks TJ. Unfortunately, that didn’t quite do the trick…or I did the wrong thing with it. I can change the height, which causes the spacing of the top-level groups to be greater, but what I really need is to mess with whatever causes all the items in the list to shift downward, to make room for the expanded items. Still looking for the CSS that…[Read more]

Hi TJ,
Thanks for the quick reply. Yup, you’re right…I completely forgot we use a plugin (BP Groups Hierarchy) for that. I sent you a PM.

As the title says, I get a really ugly result when I click on the (+) to drop down subgroups on the main Groups page. Attached are screenshots of before and after clicking.
I’m seeing this in both Chrome and Safari.
NOTE: Some text and images on the attachments are redacted for privacy. This is NOT part of the problem I am reporting. 🙂

Hi TJ. Thanks. I would like to theme subsections of my site slightly differently — varying the title and tagline, a well as the top navigation menu.
We have a Community area right now, that is themed with BuddyBoss. At the top, the title reads “Community” and the tagline is specific to that purpose We are adding a “Courses” area for t…[Read more]

He said the same thing, lol 🙂 I guess I’ll have to introduce you two.
Is there any documentation available on using BuddyBoss to theme different parts of a single site differently….for example, by category? I haven’t been able to find anything.
Thanks!

I would like to theme subsections of my site slightly differently — varying the title and tagline, a well as the top navigation menu. Assuming there was no way to do this with Buddy Boss alone, I attempted to use Jonradio Multiple Themes.
For dealing with child themes, the plugin suggests installing the child themes, then using the “live…[Read more]

That did the trick, and just in time!! I got your message 15 minutes before I gave a presentation on the community. 🙂
Sorry I didn’t find the other discussion. I didn’t think of searching for the plugin by name, since it wasn’t apparently the cause of the issue, just the “victim”.
Thanks, TJ.

Thanks TJ. I’m LOVING BuddyBoss. Best theme ever.
I sent the link in the original message. The problem is visible on the main (home = Group) page, once you’re logged in and have joined a group.
The plugin that’s being affected (not sure if it’s the cause, since the problem has NOT always been there, and I’ve had this plugin installed within…[Read more]

Sorry for the vague subject line, but I’m not even sure how to explain this. It’s a multi layered problem (literally).
First, today I noticed that the display of Groups was a little funky – the line that says “Public Group / 16 members” was cut in half horizontally — the item below overlays the one above.
I added the following to custom.css (in…[Read more]
