Same here, you could try replacing front-page.php with the last version as that seems like it should do it but I have not tried it yet. My category pages are also showing full posts.

Why does the code come out mangled even when using the php tags, if people are copying and pasting this code as is we really should have this fixed so the code is displayed properly.

Thanks @gansad In addition you will have to change the top line [div=content] to call the right two column or full page template.
