@tjchester Hi TJ. Thanks but already tried that. Doesn’t work even with !important.

Paul started the question Change background colour of single page in the forum BuddyBoss theme 10 years, 1 month ago
I’m sure this is simple but it has me stumped with BB. How can I change the background colour of a single page?
I’ve used CSS to remove the header on one page only, but using the same format, the background colour won’t change.
I can get it to change if I could #mainwrap but that takes effect on every page.
What’s suggested here doesn’t work…[Read more]

@legitballers TJ will be better placed to answer your question but…
Your timing might be good. See this post around the beta release of Buddypress 2.2 – in particular ‘Member Types’:

Paul replied to the question Wall instead of bbpress forum? in the forum BuddyPress (general issues) 10 years, 1 month ago
The Wall plugin does not need bbPress to function, or vice-versa. I would suggest making a decision based on the nature of what you expect people to be posting. Forums are traditionally for support or community discussion – you could maybe use Buddypress groups as an alternative.
The difference between Wall or Groups is you won’t be able…[Read more]

Paul replied to the question Post Instead of Activity Update in the forum BuddyPress (general issues) 10 years, 1 month ago
In short, you can’t. You can set new blog posts to appear in activity streams for people to reply to.
For full posting you could either use a front-end plugin (I believe the BuddyBoss guys are working on one), or you add custom links to the user account menu on the Toolbar – available only to those with the relevant permission level.

@palmdoc I’m going to put a Trac ticket in for this today. Should definitely be part of the Buddypress core.

Paul started the question Buddypress Headers & SEO in the forum BuddyPress (general issues) 10 years, 1 month ago
Would using display:none to hide Buddypress headers have an adverse effect on SEO? My understanding is that it won’t, just wanted to see what others thought.
I don’t think users really need to see ‘Site-Wide Activity’ or ‘Members’ when it’s so obvious that’s what they’re viewing anyway. And I probably won’t allow users to create Groups so I’ve…[Read more]

Seems like the only option at the moment, thanks.

@tjchester I can only reproduce this problem using an iPad. Desktop and mobile are fine, iPad is not.

Paul replied to the question 4.0.9 Social Links in the forum BuddyBoss theme 10 years, 1 month ago
@tjchester I have no white spaces, I’ve only added these two addresses in the FB & Twitter fields in Customizer:
https://facebook.com/everygoalmatters
https://twitter.com/egmattersI don’t have a custom footer.php file. Looks like a theme issue, I didn’t have this problem prior to 4.0.9

Paul replied to the question Do users participate with BP? in the forum BuddyPress (general issues) 10 years, 1 month ago
Don’t raise functional concerns on the BP forum. A couple of guys are really good, the rest will return with, at best, a sarcastic and derogatory response. Unfortunately.

Paul replied to the question Do users participate with BP? in the forum BuddyPress (general issues) 10 years, 1 month ago
I know the guys here go to great lengths to make things work, but it’s within the framework of BP, and you can twist that anyway you like, BP for me, is some distance off the big players. Or even, more tellingly, those apps I stumble upon. I don’t want to degrade, and I love BB on mobile, or Super Mobile on iPad, but the core isn’t there for me.…[Read more]

Paul replied to the question 4.0.9 Social Links in the forum BuddyBoss theme 10 years, 1 month ago
Yeah same for me still also.
A quick note as well – from the 4 themes I have installed – BB + BB Child, Super Mobile + SM Child, only the original BB theme prompts for an automatic update. Is this expected behaviour?

BB 4.0.9 shows icons for all social media links regardless of how many you have details entered for – in my case FB & Twitter. The remaining icons previously didn’t display if addresses hadn’t been added.

Something I forgot – does the complete lack of active BP example sites out there back this up?

Paul started the question Do users participate with BP? in the forum BuddyPress (general issues) 10 years, 1 month ago
Does anyone have experience of using BP on a live site, and seeing users actively participate in using it as intended?
I ask because I’ve only recently been testing it properly but to use BP in the same manner as other ‘social networks’ requires constant manual refreshing / reloading of the browser. Unless you reply to any users update using…[Read more]

@ploufeo Check these two settings are enabled:
Buddypress > Settings “Show the Toolbar for logged out users”
Settings > General “Anyone can register”Also check you don’t have any plugins installed which are hiding the WP Toolbar.
