@tjchester I did try elevating the user account on both sites, logging in/out, changing it back to subscriber, same problem remains. If I disable the Rename plugin and use the instructions below to change the URL, the same issue is there with a subscriber account.

I can get the login issue to stop, and although it directs subscribers to the dashboard as opposed to the front-end, it does work. @tjchester yeah that plugin has the functionality but it’s still difficult to create a consistent experience across desktop and mobile given it’s a sidebar widget. That would mean it would appear at the bottom of each page on mobile. I’ve really struggled with this when not using Woocommerce.

@tjchester It was just changing the background – the color #FFF is hardcorded in theme-functions, sorted now.

@tjchester Thanks that works for every user role but not subscriber. Any ideas? Tbh it’s about time Wordpress had a front-end login and password reset functionality. Know any other ‘CMS’ out there that doesn’t? Would be great to see that added to Buddyboss.

@milena @tjchester Bowes Codes plugin is almost what you’re looking for. The exact plugin you need is Gears – it’s included in the Klein theme. I don’t know if it’s available separately or not, maybe worth dropping the theme author an email…

Any ideas on this one? Pretty sure it’s the BB action of redirecting to the same URL that’s causing this.

@tjchester Yeah no worries. I still intend to use Buddyboss on desktop builds as well, but the option to invoke the mobile theme on other devices resolves some long standing headaches. It will also bring the site I’m working in more directly in line with competitor sites in terms of iPad functionality.

As a workaround for this, I’d be happy if there was a clean way to reduce the sidebar with on iPads. Ensuring the mobile theme on smaller tablet screens would be a priority for me, I just don’t think BB works on presenting the desktop version on devices that aren’t really capable of it.

@tjchester I don’t have an caching plugins installed. I do have a plugin to automatically create retina capable versions of each image, but I’ve being using this for 2 months+ without issue having changed the logo quite a few times. I didn’t have this issue until updated to 4.0.3 yesterday, but I’ll have another look after work.

@tjchester I would make that decision based on usability, and IMO the mobile version should be used on devices of this size. Is it intended that the desktop version be displayed when a 7″ device is being used in landscape mode? Or is it the case that since the BB breakpoints were written, the resolution these devices are capable of has increased?…[Read more]
