What is the difference between Start, Launch and Scale?
Start gives you a full community with the social features that get members posting. Launch adds the BuddyBoss Theme, every LMS integration, and the messaging, notifications and access controls a growing community needs. Scale is for established communities, adding gamification, media offload, member blogging and domain restrictions.
What happened to Platform Pro and Platform Plus?
They were renamed. Platform Pro is now Launch and Platform Plus is now Scale. If you are already a customer nothing changes: the same features, the same renewal price, just a new name.
Does BuddyBoss take a cut of my course sales?
Only on our own Memberships and Courses, and only on Start. If you sell through BuddyBoss Memberships and Courses with Stripe, we take 2.9% on the Start plan and nothing at all on Launch or Scale. We never take a cut of sales made through LearnDash, MemberPress, Tutor LMS, LifterLMS, WooCommerce or any other plugin or payment gateway.
Do I need WordPress to run BuddyBoss?
Yes. BuddyBoss is WordPress software: a set of plugins and a theme you install on your own WordPress site. That is the point of it. You own the site, the data and the member relationships, and you are never locked into someone else’s platform.
Do I need to buy hosting separately?
Yes. BuddyBoss is self-hosted, so you bring your own WordPress hosting and it is not included in any plan. We recommend a managed WordPress host with dedicated resources rather than budget shared hosting, which tends to struggle once a community gets busy.
Does BuddyBoss work with my existing LMS plugin?
Yes. Launch and Scale include integrations for LearnDash, MemberPress Courses, Tutor LMS and LifterLMS, so you can keep the LMS you already run. Both plans also include BuddyBoss Memberships and Courses built in, so a second plugin is optional rather than required. Sales you make through a third-party LMS carry no BuddyBoss fee.
Can I migrate from another community platform?
If you are already on WordPress, yes, and the tools are built in. BuddyBoss Platform includes migration tools for BuddyPress, PeepSo, Fluent Community, wpForo, bbPress, phpBB, XenForo and more. Moving across from a SaaS platform such as Circle, Mighty Networks or Skool is a bigger job and is not part of the Done For You Web service, but our agency team can take it on. Contact us and we will scope it with you.
Will my site look like the demos?
Yes. ReadyLaunch gives you the demo look straight out of the box with no setup, and we provide a demo import tool if you would rather start from one of our full demo sites and edit from there.
Will my site be slow?
Not on decent hosting. We work on performance continuously, and a well-resourced host runs a busy community comfortably. The thing to watch is PHP workers: a community is dynamic, so every active member uses one. If your host caps workers and your traffic is highly concurrent, that is where slowdowns come from, which is why we recommend a host with dedicated resources rather than shared hosting.
Can I use BuddyBoss across multiple websites?
One BuddyBoss licence covers one production site. Additional site licences are $99 each, so a second community costs far less than a second full plan. Running 5 or more sites, such as an agency managing client communities? Contact us about bulk licensing.
Can I upgrade or downgrade between plans later?
Absolutely. You can change plans or cancel your account at any time. When you upgrade you only pay the difference for the remainder of your billing period.
What happens when my subscription renews?
It renews automatically at the renewal price shown on your plan and everything keeps working exactly as it did. You can change plan or cancel at any time from your account.
Is the mobile app included, or is it separate?
It is separate. Web plans cover your website; the native mobile app is its own subscription on top. App plans start at Solo for a single platform (iOS or Android), with App Launch covering both and Managed adding a fully done-for-you build and ongoing maintenance. How is this different from Circle, Skool or Mighty Networks?
You own it. BuddyBoss runs on your own WordPress site, so your members, your content and your data stay yours, and nobody can change the rules or the pricing underneath you. Your community can also ship as your own native app, published under your own name in the App Store and Google Play, rather than living inside somebody else’s.

You submit a publishing request with your Apple and Google account details. Our team then QAs your app and checks it against both stores’ approval guidelines before anything is sent.
Where you allow it, we submit on your behalf through your own App Store and Google Play accounts. If you would rather submit it yourself, we hand it back ready to go and tell you exactly what to do.
When we submit, we monitor Apple and Google for feedback, recommend any changes they ask for, and answer their questions and rejections until you are live. Getting into the stores is the step most projects stall on, and this is how we make sure yours does not.

Do I need my own Apple Developer and Google Play accounts?
Yes. Your app is published white-label under your own developer accounts — Apple ($99/year) and Google ($25 one-time) — so you fully own the store listings. On the Managed plan we handle the setup and submission for you; on Solo and Launch you publish under your account with our step-by-step guidance.
What is the difference between the Next Gen app and the React Native app?
Next Gen is the app we build today and the one every new customer gets. It is faster, and it is where all of our development goes. The React Native app is no longer sold to new customers. If you are already on React Native your app is fully supported, there is no forced migration, and we have not set an end date.
Will Apple and Google approve my app? Who handles submission?
BuddyBoss apps are built to meet App Store and Play Store guidelines, and tens of thousands are live today. On Managed, we submit your app and handle any review feedback. On Solo and Launch you submit it yourself — rejections are usually minor (screenshots, metadata) and our docs walk you through them.
Is the app truly branded as mine, or does it say BuddyBoss?
It’s fully white-label. Your app ships under your own name, icon, and splash screen with zero BuddyBoss branding. To your members, it’s simply your app in the App Store and Google Play.
Can I sell courses and memberships inside the app?
Yes — the Launch and Managed plans support in-app purchasing. Apple and Google require digital goods sold inside an app to use their in-app purchase systems, and BuddyBoss handles this so members can buy memberships and courses directly in the app while staying compliant.
What’s the difference between doing it myself (Solo/Launch) and Managed?
With Solo and Launch you build and submit the app yourself using your developer accounts, with our guidance. Managed is fully done-for-you — we handle the build, App Store graphics, submission, monthly maintenance, and feature configuration, so you never touch the technical side.
Can I get custom development on my app?
Not as part of an app plan. Custom development is handled by the BuddyBoss agency rather than bundled into a subscription, which keeps our team focused on Next Gen speed and quality. Managed customers get reduced agency rates. Managed support itself covers the app plugin, not custom work.
What happens when iOS or Android releases an update — will my app keep working?
On the Managed plan, monthly maintenance keeps your app compatible with new OS versions and store requirements. On Solo and Launch, you push updated builds on your own schedule whenever you’re ready to ship changes.
Can my members use the app offline?
Yes — the Launch and Managed plans include Offline Mode for course content, so learners can download lessons and keep going without an internet connection.
How long until my app is live in the stores?
Typically four to six weeks from starting to being live in the stores. Most of that is preparation rather than waiting: getting your site and content ready, and setting up your Apple and Google developer accounts. Store review itself is usually quick, a few days for Apple and often less for Google. Managed customers have the whole pipeline handled end to end.
