I notice that my media library is loading up repeatedly with the various cover images, they keep on accumulating the same set of images. Now my media library has dozens and dozens of the same set of cover images, and it keeps on adding them. What the hell????
Hi @jomik12, it is getting attached twice for each member once for profile cover image and once for group cover image.
We need to save it for member specific to display their cover image.

Ok, but that is kind of insane. I can display the same picture 5 times on every page of the site with ONE image. I don’t need to upload that image every time I want to display it somewhere on the site. Never have I heard of your way to do that. I have an Oxwall powered social network with 2700 members, that’s 2700 profiles. There are about 10 standard default cover image for them to choose from. Most use the default, and there’s only 1 copy of each image saved.
You should really work on changing the way your script does that. What an annoyance and inconvenience to have 1000’s of exact same copies of the same images clogging up your image library, using up server inodes, and server storage.
Like I said, I have never ever seen any other developer do it like you do it.
Hi @jomik12, I have got your point and that will be very huge for large member based site, we will discuss about it with our developer team , to get a proper solution. BuddyPress itself coming with profile image feature

It will be fixed in our future updates.

Hello,
I am having this same issue. I have about 700 “cover photo stock images” in my media folder now and it’s getting out of hand. Has the issue been fixed yet? If not, is there a way I can fix it now?

Hi @judeamedia, you can set an default cover image from Boss theme Options and all new members will get the same image instead of getting a newly added image and same for groups.

Thank you, Varun! I will try that. 🙂

Even we are facing the same issue and this is getting out of hands now.
Any fix to this issue so far?
Hi @navdeep, you can set default cover image from Boss theme Options and all new members/group will get the same image instead of populating media library.

Hi Varun, we would like to keep the default image library feature ON (and not restrict to just one image only). Is there a work around to keep the library image feature ON and not have this overload / duplication of images. This is really annoying and it took us a few days to figure out what was going on here. 🙂
Hi @navdeep, By setting default image for cover photo option your members will get the same image by default (it will stop the repopulating media library) and they will also have option to set their own cover photo which will be uploaded in different user id specific table not in your media library..

I have reported the same problem in the past:
https://www.buddyboss.com/support-forums/topic/boss-cover-photos-automatically-spamming-media-library/
I have now changed it to my own static default cover image and have deleted all BuddyBoss cover images from the media library (to be on the safe side) but the random uploading has NOT completely stopped (although slowed down) but the craziness continues. Please finally fix this as I also would like to have the option to eventually use the random cover photos. Automatically uploading the same cover photo 20-30 times is not normal, there is a bug somewhere…
Hi @bstrehl, I have noted this bug and added in our queue..our development team will check it and will solve it on high priority basis.
Thanks for your patience with us..

This is still a huge deal. If I have to delete another photo or Raspberries or Oranges I think I’m going to flip out.
