Advantages over BuddyBoss Theme

Hi!

I’m currently using the Device Theme Switcher plugin to be able to use the BuddyBoss theme as my mobile theme and another theme on desktop clients. Works great.

However, I’m wondering what the advantages of switching to BuddyBoss Super Mobile would be? Increased performance (the current setup is already pretty fast)? Will the Super Mobile theme be updated along with the BuddyBoss theme in the future?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

@angslycke the benefit of the super mobile theme is to more closely control which devices to deliver the mobile theme. The BuddyBoss main theme can only change the CSS based on screen size and new tablets have resolutions that rival desktops (retina display) so this is no longer a reliable way to determine the device you are using to view websites. There is much removed from the super mobile theme that the desktop theme uses so it is slightly lighter but I can’t say how much, I’m just not certain. Hope this helps. @tjchester Thanks for your reply! In my case I believe that the Device Theme Switcher Plugin decides which devices see the mobile versus the desktop theme, but I appreciate the information. If it’s not noticeably faster I think I’ll stick with my current setup.

Really looking forward to your upcoming new themes with improved desktop versions though! When will the first be released?

@angslycke I’m not sure since I’m not on the development team but I would think within the next couple months since we are currently in the final stages of the invitational beta.
