Question
May 4, 2015 at 1:05 pm #39773@style960What’s the markup needed to create a blank page template? Stripped of header, sidebars, and footer. Useful for those wanting to create a front-end login page and not show visitors the WP back-end.
Thanks,

AlyssaParticipant@style960 a page template will not prevent users from accessing the WP back-end. Furthermore you cannot simply from the header from a page template. WordPress relies on this function to well…function. Without it no plugins load, no CSS loads, no JS loads, etc. Best bet is to use a plugin like S2members to prevent access.
May 5, 2015 at 2:28 am #39790@style960@tjchester I no longer use Buddypress. I’ve switched to a plugin which includes many features that should be native to BP, like preventing access to the WP back-end. Front-end login, register, and password reset functions are available for ‘members’ – I have 5 other premium themes which include a blank page template specifically for pages like those. From what I’ve seen on WP.org support threads, these templates are a little more complex than others, I would assume to cover those load issues you mention. I’m just looking for a page template minus header, sidebar(s), and footer (with consistent styling).

AlyssaParticipant@style960 perhaps this forum will help you in your quest for a blank page: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-do-i-make-a-blank-page-template
May 5, 2015 at 11:29 am #39809@style960@tjchester Ok, part way there. Needs styling but it works functionally. Thanks.

AlyssaParticipantNo problem
May 5, 2015 at 2:41 pm #39817@style960@tjchester Not quite as easy as I thought. Is there official support for theme purchasers or is it really for Buddypress users only? Something I need to bear in mind now.
May 7, 2015 at 2:35 pm #39925@style960@tjchester Is it right to assume this kind of request isn’t covered by theme support?

AlyssaParticipant@style960 no we do not officially support this but I may be able to help out best I can. What do you have so far and what more do you need? Problem is we haven’t created styling headers, left menu etc. If the page is not formatting properly but the CSS is loading you may want to try using the no-buddypanel-page-template class in the body tag, this is the closest to the blank page. Got a link of what you have so far? Possibly post the template php as well.
May 7, 2015 at 5:42 pm #39934@style960@tjchester It’s not a million miles away – http://falcon.everygoalmatters.com/login. It isn’t responsive though and that’s not a plugin issue. I’ve updated the body tags as suggested.

Anonymoushi @style960 the approach you are using to create a template like this is okay, you are keeping wp-login.php as it is and you will have two login pages as well, you can do in little more better way decorate the default login page and change its slug from wp-login.php to /login

This might be helpful as general solution for all sitesRegards
Varun DubeyMay 12, 2015 at 3:10 am #40089@style960@vapvarun @tjchester The plugin I use for members creates a front-end login page. Access to wp-login is denied (set by myself). There are plenty of solutions for renaming wp-login and I’ve found every one of them to be problematic in the past. Also, using a front-end login page I can completely add/customize additional content. IMO, no user below maybe author level should ever see the wp-login page.
May 14, 2015 at 4:57 pm #40228@style960@vapvarun @tjchester @michael Any further suggestions on this? I’m concerned these forums are actually prioritized for Buddypress users which would be a shame, I’ve bought my fair share of Buddyboss products. IMO help creating a page template isn’t beyond the boundaries of theme support. BB or Boss theme would be fine.

AlyssaParticipant@style960 sorry for the delay, I was on a cruise in Alaska for the past 10 days and had very limited internet as you could imagine. Our support is typically prioritized first in, first out. I’m sorry you feel BuddyPress is prioritized. I see you have a blank login page now, do you still require assistance with this issue?
May 19, 2015 at 3:30 pm #40418@style960@tjchester No worries, hope the cruise was good 🙂 I’m sorted now thanks.
