Question
January 30, 2015 at 5:40 pm #35197@style960We need to know what the recommended size is for images used on cover photos for profiles, groups, and blog posts. IMO a crop tool must be implemented so the user can select which area of the image they are happy with.
I did raise this during beta testing and was assured it would be implemented. Hopefully it will be very soon. If not, covers are going to become a mess very quickly.
I would have expected this to have being resolved before releasing the theme as finished, especially on a product I’ve just paid £65 for.

AlyssaParticipant@style960 when you hover over the upload cover button a small popup recommends a dimension of 1050×320
I’m sorry we have not yet been able to implement this tool. We have not yet released this product to the general public. This will be included as soon as possible. I assure you we have programmers looking into the issue.
February 4, 2015 at 4:36 pm #35418@style960@tjchester We need a recommended image size for a blog post ‘Featured Image’ as well – I just tried a 1050 * 320 image and it’s way off. If you take the same image and zoom in once on Photoshop (CTRL +), that’s how the featured image is displayed. I want to move forwards and put together a demo site, but I can’t with this theme at present.
July 31, 2015 at 11:21 am #43650@james-rimmerThis is still an issue and really needs to be fixed as the cover photo I uploaded was way to big but there were no prompts. The cover photo feature is pretty useless without this. Ideally there should be an option to auto-resize the photo you are uploading.
Also, on some photos I’m trying to upload I’m getting the error message “Error: File Size Error”. Is this related to the above or is this to do with the file size of the photo in terms of megabytes? If the latter, what are the file size limits in terms of megabytes for the uploads?
Thanks
James

AlyssaParticipant@james-rimmer @style960 we have a fix in place, the update should be pushed within the next week or so
August 2, 2015 at 7:48 pm #43800@lebear@james-rimmer the photo size upload error sounds like the file size and not the dimensions. Typically this is configured by editing server configuration files outside of the wordpress application / theme. You will need to refer to your hosting support or if you let us know your provider we could assist.
August 2, 2015 at 7:53 pm #43801@lebearI missed the detail that you set the maximum file size limit by editing a configuration file. The method varies dependent on your hosting.
August 15, 2015 at 2:34 pm #44550@style960@lebear This query isn’t around the file size, it’s an issue with file dimensions and how Boss crops them.
August 15, 2015 at 3:49 pm #44551@lebearHi Paul,
My comments were into response to james-rimmer second paragraph.
Have you had any progress with the topic query?
I’m just configuring Boss for my application I’d be interested to know this too. I might try discovering the optimum image size.

October 20, 2015 at 8:37 am #49167@style960@vapvarun @tjchester The referenced Trac ticket is now closed and still cover photos and blog featured images do not crop. Please can this be looked into asap? I originally reported this almost 9 months ago.

RegardsOctober 20, 2015 at 1:19 pm #49199@style960Ok thanks. I don’t think Boss could be used on a live site with this problem still outstanding.
