Disable upload of duplicate Cover Photo's?

Hi team,

It would be great if cover photos would not be uploaded if they are already located on the server. I don’t know if it’s possible but perhaps a cover photo can be “shared” for new BP users?

+1 on this. I had to disable cover photos on user profiles because my media library was overrun – all my own images were buried under pages of duplicate BuddyBoss cover pics.

I didn’t realize these photos would be part of my media library at all. Can’t they be stored elsewhere?

Hi @davejay and @mln83, In cover photo section select Default Photo where you can optionally upload your own image to always use as the default cover photo so it will not create another stock cover images in your media library.

I was wondering. Is it possible to upload multiple images which can be loaded randomly for new users? This is just to ensure that every new user profile doesn’t look the same..

I can do that, but what happens when a user decides they don’t like the pic I choose and clicks the “update cover photo” button? Will user uploaded cover photos still appear in my media library? If so, that’s just another version of the same problem.

@mln83, there’s a discussion about this here. I haven’t tried it, but it seems like it should work. Would be great to see this added to a future update.

Hi all, If any user want their own cover pic so they can upload it via upload cover photo.

Right, @pallavi. I guess what I’m asking is: Where are user-uploaded cover photos stored? If they’re stored in the default WP media library, then I’d rather not enable this feature because my library will be inundated with other peoples’s pictures.

Hi @davejay, Buddypress have user id specific section so if any user-uploaded cover photos stored in their particular column not in your media library.
