Question
September 8, 2015 at 8:16 am #45932@
AnonymousHello @vapvarun,
Thank you for adding Visual composer to the bundle. I am not sure if I need it to achieve what I consider to do with the homepage:
– full-width background in sections
– full-width images, eventually with text on it
– alternatively text and an image next to it, responsive
– no buddypanel
– larger text on homepage, comparable to h3
– columnsAnd the visual composer comes with limitations:
– no support for the woocommerce shortcodes; this would require an add-on
– I have had a bad experience with a similar software: all content gone after saving the same page twice before all content was loaded to the boxes.Do I really need visual composer to do that?
What effect does it have on the other pages and posts, i.e. the Sensei lessons and product pages?
Thanks
Nicole
p.s.: Are the fonts issues fixed by now? Can I remove the CSS for fonts?

AnonymousHi @nmschaller,
It will be better to use Visual Composer and you can easily add Woocommerce shortcodes inside the text boxes.
It will work with all post type, you just have to enable from Visual Composer plugin setting for which post type your like to use.Keep the custom font css as it is.

Anonymous@vapvarun,
This is what I get when I try to install Visual Composer on my testsite from the downloads available in my account:
Installing Plugin from uploaded file: visual-composer-page-builder-for-wordpress.zip
Unpacking the package…Installing the plugin…
The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.
Plugin install failed.
Return to Plugins page
Question:
I think I have seen a tutorial from Buddyboss that I have to activate Visual Composer on a page by choosing an template you created for that.
Is that correct?
Where do I find the video tutorial? Thanks
Nicole

AnonymousSame result with the files you sent me via email in July.
What is js_composer.zip for? This file is missing in the account downloads.

Anonymous@vapvarun,
Googling about Visual Composer I am finding masses of support requests due to incompatibilities with themes and plugins. Plus I already had two problems to solve: problems in cloning my live site to the testsite again, and problems trying to install Visual Composer.
I really don’t have time for this. All I want to do is rewriting my homepage to fit the new scope of my service offerings. Without being distracted by technical problems.
In my opinion, it would be more convenient if you could add some basic functionality to your theme:
– columns
– info boxes like in Woothemes
– eventually full width images… and fix the fonts issues.

AnonymousHello @nmschaller
Might be you are direct uploading the zip file. Extract the zip file of visual composer plugin and you will get the main plugin folder inside that…and then try to upload it.

AnonymousHello @vapvarun,
I have de-zipped the files and read the documentation, but I am still not sure: which file shall I upload – js_composer.zip plus the templatera.zip?
What about activating the visual composer on a single page by choosing a template – is that possible?
If I ever deactivated Visual composer in the plugins, what happens with the content in the boxes?
Can I produce call to action buttons that fit the Social Learner design – turquois filled and inverted?

AnonymousNext step, I will have to activate it with a key. But I cannot find any in my account or your email.

Anonymous@vapvarun,
It would be helpful if you could get me some more input here.
I have some ideas about the new homepage, but I cannot start to draft without a platform. Instead, I am researching about how to install and use visual composer for hours now.
How annoying.
What files shall I install?
Is there a key included in the license that you have bought to bundle with Social Learner?
If I just want to design the front page, do I need the template manager? Can it mess up my custom post types?Reading deeper into the VC documentation:
Is this a built-in theme version that is not updated automatically?
What about support tickets on VC?Regards

Anonymous@vapvarun,
If I tried to get some one-pager look and feel on the front page:
– Can I use the Social Learner front page template or the full-width template? What does it do?
– Is there not a simpler way to get i.e. columns? Maybe I should just use a picture on the right or left side and some text next to it. And try WooThemes Features again.
– And then there was this shortcodes plugin for creating columns, info boxes …You see, spending hours on VC with no result makes me become really modest about what I would my homepage to look like. Because what I foremost would like to do is getting started on distraction-free content production.
But it would be easier if I had a greater choice in font sizes in Boss/Social Learner.

AnonymousI would like to open a support ticket with WP Bakery to get my many questions answered on how to get started fast, but I can’t because I don’t have a license key.

AnonymousHi @nmschaller, it’s a bundled product.
We have extended license to distribute, and we will provide updates on regular basis with our theme updates. You can also buy your own standalone license.
Installation is easy and just have to upload right zip file, js_composer.zip
You can use it on any page it your own choice and play with their template and i can also send the template files
http://buddyboss.clusterinteracti.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/demo.zip
It have a templatera_09Jul2015.xml which you can import in templatera import section.
You can use those template to configure homepageIf you will deactivate the plugin after use, it will display those shortcodes.
It will not mess with any existing page or custom post type.
