@Mentions Auto Suggest

Is there any way to get @mentions autosuggest working without using the BP Labs plugin?

Apparently the feature now exists in the core but I can’t seem to get it working : https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3278

@callummc Welcome to the BuddyBoss community! There is a small caveat to this function, it only works on people you have befriended. See excerpt: “If the Friends component is active, and if the logged-in user has any friends, those friends’ details are used to pre-prime the username suggestions for super-fast snappy suggestions.”

@callummc @tjchester I didn’t realise this was finally in – I got kind of reprimanded for suggesting it on the BP forums previously. Same as Callum though, I can’t get this working either, tested on befriended users.

I’m not sure if this is in the current BuddyPress version but it appears to at least be a work in progress.

I noticed that the most recent theme updates incorporated fixes for the 2.1 beta, is anyone there able to provide feedback on how well @mentions work with the 2.1 beta?

Also (a little off topic), I saw that likes / bookmarks are earmarked for the 2.2 release. How is that going to impact / influence the BuddyBoss plugin in the future?

@callummc we won’t know until they are finalized. It’s too far into the future for us to be playing with. We are working on 2.1 first 🙂
