Question
March 10, 2016 at 7:24 pm #62476@costyclanHow can I remove the menu item ‘Write a story’ from the titlebar. I only want members to access this area via their profile.
Thank youAnswers

Please attach a screenshot of titlebar to make it easier for me to understand that where and when you exactly want this menu item.

AnveMarch 12, 2016 at 5:08 am #62664@costyclansorry i might have asked this in wrong forum, I’m using the buddypress User Blog plugin (screenshot attached) – see top right hand corner – document item with ‘write a story’. I want this removed from titlebar. Let me know if you want this to be asked in plugin forum ; )
March 12, 2016 at 8:56 pm #62747@conscious-craftiesI’ve asked in the Blog forum how to do this too (still waiting for response) – I just want to remove for everyone apart from the users who I have approved as bloggers on my site 🙂
March 13, 2016 at 5:38 am #62764@conscious-craftiesDo you think someone might be able to respond to this one soon?
I think I need to deactivate this PAID plug in until it works as expected. Even my customers can write blogs it’s crazy!!!March 14, 2016 at 6:23 pm #63016@costyclan@conscious-crafties I am after the same thing as you. I also use member types plugin. Any chance we can make buddypres user blog work with member types so that it only shows on certain member types. Or at least integrate with S2member?
Otherwise, I’m happy to just remove the top icon for now and not run a blog page so that members just have their individual blog posts on their profile.
Thank youMarch 16, 2016 at 8:59 am #63345@alyssa-buddyboss
AlyssaParticipantHi Carly, Karen,
We apologize for the delayed response, we are aware of the poor support performance over the last few weeks and are working hard on getting this back to normal. Meanwhile, I’m here to help, while we work on solving this.
Currently we do not have option settings to show/hide top header buttons. We will add this to our suggestions list, for a possible future implementation. For the time being you can hide this button with help of following css code.
Put this code in –
Dashboard -> BuddyBoss -> OneSocial Theme -> Custom Codes -> CSS
.header-button[data-tooltip="Write a Story"] { display: none !important; }
Hope this helps you.
Thanks again for your patience.
March 16, 2016 at 1:04 pm #63427@conscious-craftiesHi Sagar,
Unfortunately we only want to hide Write a Story icon from users who have not been approved to blog on our site. We want to display it for those that we have approved (for me this would be author).
Many thanks,
Karen
March 16, 2016 at 4:12 pm #63452@conscious-craftiesWe will also need to remove the BLOG tab from their profiles (see screenshot)
Many thanks,
Karen
March 16, 2016 at 5:52 pm #63459@costyclanthank you @sagar that worked. Also, how can I remove the option for members to publish a post from the top of the blog. I only want them to be able to publish from their profile>blog
Thank youMarch 23, 2016 at 12:38 am #64719@alyssa-buddyboss
AlyssaParticipantHi @costyclan, @conscious-crafties,
We have added options to show/hide buttons in titlebar. You can find those options under
Dashboard -> BuddyBoss -> OneSocial Theme -> Header
Please refer following screenshot http://goo.gl/Zlk61Q.
Latest theme updates are available to download.
Thanks
March 23, 2016 at 5:56 am #64803@conscious-craftiesThank you – will we soon have the option to show for a role eg Author?
March 24, 2016 at 7:56 am #65013@alyssa-buddyboss
AlyssaParticipantThis is feature is not currently part of our product. We appreciate the suggestion. We will add this to our suggestions list, for a possible future implementation.
Thanks
March 24, 2016 at 9:36 am #65024@conscious-craftiesHi @sagar,
As I’ve mentioned (along with many others in this forum within various posts) it’s ESSENTIAL that as shop owners we don’t allow all sellers and customers (or anyone who registers on our sites) to add blogs.
Within wordpress we would normally just give blogging capabilities to authors. I’m struggling to understand why this essential piece was missed?
Rather than adding to the suggestion pot could you fight our corner and add to an urgent piece of work please? (you’ll find many more requests for this within the User Blog forum)
Many thanks from all who have been asking for this,
Karen
