Question
April 11, 2016 at 11:16 am #67717@blstraubI have a site menu that is displayed in the Buddy Bar (BuddyBar??). There are nine items in the menu. Each menu item has a submenu. Each submenu has from three to six items in it.
Depending on what I have selected in the menu, I get different scrolling behavior:
1. If no submenu items are open, the BuddyBar content does not scroll with the page content.
2. If I select an item on a large submenu, the bottom-most item on the main menu may extend all the way to the bottom of the window. In this case, the menu will scroll with the page content, as expected and desired.
That’s all good, although it took me a bit of time to understand exactly when menu scrolling would and would not occur. However, there is a problem:
3. If I have a submenu open, the bottom-most item on the main menu may approach but not quite reach the bottom of the window. In this case, menu scrolling will not occur with page content. However, when I hover over the last main menu item, the submenu that belongs to that item will extend beyond the bottom of the window and there is no way to scroll down to see the complete submenu.
As a workaround, someone can simply click on the bottom-most item of the main menu, causing it’s submenu to be displayed inline on the BuddyBar. But that’s not going to be terribly obvious to non-technical users and I suspect this scrolling error will cause confusion and frustration.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
