It’s a regular WordPress approach to set Homepage
You can easily add login widgets to homepage

You can not select wp-login.php as homepage with regular apprach, you will need to add a redirect for it with conditional logic if user is not logged in Homepage users get redirected to login page

Is it possible to redirect login page but wp-login.php is not displayed (e.g. sitename.com)?

Hi @surfbuddy, you can search in WordPress forums.
wp-login.php can not set as homepage url, there are many plugin which allow you to create login page and redirect wp-login.php at login page
