sharing a link used to format with an image

Hi there-

First of all, have to say finally getting buddyboss 4.1 running smoothly and I’m loving all the upgrades. Great work guys!

My question is, when I used buddypress activity plus (now using BB Media) when I would post a link, lets say for example http://www.thecosmicpath.com/ , The link would pull up an image from the website and a description, much like facebook does. Is there a way to have this formatting working again through my new setup with BB 4.1 and Buddyboss media?

@optimystic sorry BuddyBoss media is not intended for this kind of actions. I know oEmbed http://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds has a ton of potential for this. Perhaps you can turn on self discovery and allow this. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/enable-oembed-discovery/

I can’t support any of this but hopefully will give you an alternative.

Can we add this kind of functionality to the media plugin wishlist? It was a function of Buddypress Activity Plus if that helps as a reference.

Thanks- after reading about the oembed plugin I am going to advise my client it’s not worth the risk.

@optimystic right now we are concentrating on multiphoto upload and tiling of photos and the lightbox. I will submit it to the devs but no guarantees it will ever be implemented, sorry.

@tjchester I understand there are no guarantees. That’s exactly what a wish list is for, isn’t it? To wish for a feature without expectation :). Hope the devs like the idea.
