Question
April 17, 2015 at 10:41 pm #39082@dnoskerI am thinking about using SimplePress instead of bbpress.
Anyone have experience using SimplePress with this Boss theme? Any problems with Boss + SimplePress?
Thanks!

AlyssaParticipantI don’t have any experience, sorry.
April 21, 2015 at 3:20 pm #39218@dnoskerSad to say that out of the box SimplePress does not work with the Boss… It works on cell phone size but does a weird thing in desktop size where the top menu bar is stuck about 3/4 the way down the pages.
Oh well, perhaps someday this can be fixed.

AlyssaParticipant@dnosker if that is the only issue send me a link to the page and I’ll see if it’s a simple CSS issue. You may also try asking SimplePress to help out.
April 22, 2015 at 8:33 am #39235@don4lawI also noticed on my tablet (ipad) that the Boss menus were not responsive on the Simple Prsss page. everything else seems to be working ok, but those issues obviously area problem.

1… With my main site, it had the previously mentioned problems with the BuddyBoss Boss theme. However, if I switched to any other theme there was no problems which let me to believe it was the Boss theme.
2… With a new test site I had only the boss theme, buddypress and SimplePress. In this case it worked just fine. Which then led me to believe that there was a plugin that caused a problem only in the case of = “Unknown plugin” + “BuddyBoss theme” + “Simple:Press”. – Began removing most of my plugins one by one. But nothing changed, same problem.
3… Began trying different settings within Simple:Press. FINALLY, tried the setting of “Integration – Theme Display Options – Limit forum display to within WP loop” and everything fine.
In closing… Simple:Press WILL work with the Boss theme in a normal setup. (Like my test site)… However, if for some reason it does not behave correctly, all that is needed (At least in my case) is to use the setting I mentioned in #3 above.
Hope this helps others who are interested in using SimplePress with the Boss theme!

AlyssaParticipant@dnosker thanks for looking into this and sharing a solution. I will remember this in the future.
April 29, 2015 at 7:39 am #39540@yannhello @tjchester, hello @dnosker
I try it on http://reseau.emploiculturel.net/forum/ , but don’t work.
Just simple press pluggin on my site (i test before buying simple press membership…Maybe another setting that i forgot?
April 29, 2015 at 3:24 pm #39556@yann@tjchestern can you tell us why did you say that it looks like that plugin is not compatible, sorry.? Have you got found everything in simple:press to say that? maybe i can ask simple:press support about this issue. What did we change in simpe:press or in boss theme to make them compatible…
April 29, 2015 at 8:51 pm #39571@alyssa-buddyboss
AlyssaParticipant@yann I do not know what we can do to make them compatible. It would not hurt to ask Simple Press for support or guidance how to make them compatible.
May 6, 2015 at 1:52 pm #39890@yannSimple:press works perfectly with buddyboss… So…Maybe i use buddyboss for v1 of mys site… and maybe boss theme for v2 later!

AlyssaParticipantCool thanks for confirming.
May 7, 2015 at 7:27 am #39911@dnoskerSorry it took me so long to get back to this thread!…
There are still some problems with compatibility between the Boss and SimplePress…
I had got everything working ok as I mentioned in my previous post except I noticed later that…
1… There was a problem between the “Profile” part of both. It appears that the boss theme uses it’s own profile page and the SimplePress needs it’s own. It appears that when in SimplePress clicking on the profile link results in some kind of endless loop since the Boss is trying to display it’s own profile pages and yet the SimplePress is wanting to do it’s own. Would need to somehow stop the boss theme from using the profile and instead let SimplePress use the profile link to make these work together nicely.
2… I noticed that when using the SimplePress the entire site slowed down to a crawl (Page load for any page went from less than 3 seconds to over 10. This may have NOTHING to do with using the Boss theme and SimplePress together and instead have a conflict with some other plugin. I am going to spend a little time investigating this more and will report back my findings.
So, as it sits right now we just need to figure out the profile problem between the two for making them compatible.
I will also get back to more testing just as soon as I can break away from my normal work duties. 🙂
