    I have major problems with the theme being slow and numerous amount of spam registrations despite adding plugins to try and stop this.

    @lewysd1 Welcome to the BuddyBoss community! Unfortunately this is an ongoing issue with WordPress based websites. WordPress suggests you change your login and register pages from the default. Also change wp-login.php location. Search for more information on WordPress.org, start here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Combating_Comment_Spam

    There is a spam plugin for buddypress called BuddyPress Security Check I found that works fairly well and I use wangguard also. Both seem to work well at stopping it without changing login and reg pages and .php location.
