When I tried to add the plugin to my child boss theme bwp-minify id did not speed up anything and also the menu from the top title bar was gone. I tried so any things to trouble shoot but nothing worked and so I deactivated the midify plugin and the title bar menu came back again. Is there any other solution to speed up my site? It takes very long to load.

    Hi @simone2
Try with W3 Total Cache and CDN service to serve files,
Test your site at GTmatrix to get clear picture of issues which are slowing down the site speed.

The total Cache was trying to delete a php file after I installed it so I did not go for it and deactivated it again.

I just read from your instructions that you recommend this to be on a private server (I’m on a shared server) and that we should probably sign up for Content Delivery Network and Object Caching and use Better Minify. Honestly, I feel that this should have been made more obvious on the purchase page. I just feel I wasted so many hours, hoping that I could put this site together very quickly because according to the Youtube video (that’s what the purchase page linked to), it looked pretty easy and simple. But now after struggling for hours and hours , I’m reviewing all the instructions to all the tutorials and I have to spend more hours researching. I don’t mind reading, it’s just that I’ve been working on this for hours and I’m crunched with time because I have students needing to have access to my site and a little more specific guidelines would have been very helpful. Now I have to think about going back to my old theme and then making all the changes back to my old theme. This has just been hours and hours of wasted time that I just don’t have.

I really feel this should have been made more obvious in the purchase page? I could have been more prepared and probably do my website change on another time when I have more time to deal with if I would have known all those details from the beginning on but there are not any of those details on the purchase page. I’m tired now after struggling until 3 a.m. in the morning and I am usually familiar with putting wordpress websites together but I feel these are really way to advanced things where I now need to hire a developer to help me with. And I have to do this quick because I have students waiting to complete my course. I like the theme and was hoping to get it up and running quickly but I may have to revert back to my old theme because this is just too time consuming for me for now. And reverting back will take again many hours to put it back to where it was before. Sorry, but I am very frustrated with this.

Hi @simone2, W3 Total cache will also work with shared hosting
You can enabled all option there plus CDN ( like maxcdn )

for their minify setting, you can play with auto mode first to test
Minify have two modes there, auto mode and manual mode

    check this approach once

@simone2 This theme will always be slow, do not waste your time with him.
The Boss theme generates about 300 lines of CSS/JS, These lines of code are generated Within the file “functions.php”.

This function makes the subject very slow and heavy. I have requested the correction, @vapvarun but not They fixed it

    see:

Thanks for your response Cristiano. After hours and hours of frustration and trying all kinds of things (even tried to hire developer to fix things) and having found out that I need to spend another $500 to $1000 plus to just figure out and see if it can be fixed, I decided to revert back to my old theme and sure enough, my site is back to somewhat normal again. What a waste of my time.

I am using Siteground Geek (Shared service) with CloudFlare CDN. In this case the CDN service automatically minimizes the CSS, JS, HTML so no need of extra plugins in WordPress to optimize site. It works like a charm.

Current load time for my BB Social Learner site is roughly 1 – 1.5 sec which is acceptable to me.

You can also go for a dedicated hosting service like WpEngine which will probably cut load time in half compared to the best shared service (but at a cost).

Anyway in my experience it always takes longer than you would think to get things up and running smoothly.

Having said that I have also found a couple of bugs in BB + Social Learner but I guess that is to be expected considering that social learner is still very young (1.0.3) so I consider myself an early adopter of the platform.

Looking forward to next update though.

Best of luck with your project! 🙂
