Question
September 24, 2014 at 3:52 pm #31975@alextHi,
since I switched to Buddyboss Theme, my videos do not run.
when I enter the page in the front end, silverlight works, I see the video controls and the video loading, but when I hit the play button the screen just remains black.
the videos are running in the media center of wordpress, so the wmv´s are ok.
dont know if its important – I used the Tiny MCE advanced editor to embed videos in my pages.
do you have an idea?
best regards,

http://www.ms-intakt.sport.uni-erlangen.de/infos-zum-training/September 26, 2014 at 2:39 am #32026@alext…it works when I switch back to my previous Theme (ZeeMinty Pro).
After switching to BuddyBoss Child Theme the video remains black…September 27, 2014 at 9:40 am #32048@alyssa-buddyboss
AlyssaParticipant@alext unfortunately I do not believe media elements is compatible with BuddyPress 2.0+. It does not work with the twentyfourteen theme. It is possible your old theme uses legacy BuddyPress files that allow it to work and those files are no longer used in BuddyPress. I suggest you find a similar plugin that is compatible without using media elements. Sorry for the inconvenience.
September 28, 2014 at 10:44 am #32067@alext…sorry, maybe I was not clear enough and there is an misunderstanding.
I do not use any plugin for media. I just added multimedia files with the default page editor within wordpress. which worked fine until I switched to buddyboss theme.
I just tried the twenty-fourteen theme (version 1.2) and videos work.
so it can´t be a buddypress issue?September 28, 2014 at 11:16 am #32068@alext…and an addition to that: I just installed Buddypress Activity Plus to test if videos display on the activity stream. And they do!
it seems like the video problem is situated on “regular” pages, meaning pages that are outside my buddypress community pages.September 28, 2014 at 7:33 pm #32081@alyssa-buddyboss
AlyssaParticipant@alext i see what you mean. I’m not sure what the issue could be. I’ll have to forward this to our developers.

Anonymous@alext It looks like the video is working on your link now.

Is this still an issue for you? Was it with Youtube video or embeds from somewhere else?
October 6, 2014 at 7:59 am #32290@alextHi –
that is only a workaround. That is an embedded video from my youtube channel, not a video from my webspace. That is not an acceptable solution because of the ads that appear after the video has finished…
so the problem is still valid.
I just added two videos to the page that are stored on my webspace.
the video in the middle links to the file on my webspace,
the video at the bottom is inserted directly via the wordpress media gallery.
neither is running…

Anonymous@alext Got it. Now we understand the bug fully.
October 12, 2014 at 5:26 am #32488@alextHi, that is good to know, thanks.
is there a chance for a quick solution to the problem then? or are we talking about an issue for maybe the next release…October 12, 2014 at 3:28 pm #32492@
Anonymous@alext What type of videos (filetype) are you uploading? And are you using some plugin to display the videos, like VideoPress or something else? Out of the box WordPress doesn’t display an uploaded video as far as I know. It needs a video player, or some HTML5 code to run it.. I am asking so I can replicate your setup for testing…
October 13, 2014 at 3:52 am #32524@alextI am uploading wmv files. I do not use any video display plugin. I use tiny mce advanced editor and then simply add videos to pages. I attached a list of plugins from my site.
