Question
October 18, 2014 at 3:39 am #32691@
AnonymousHi guys i’m trying every avenue now to get this issue fixed, have contacted wordpress, buddypress and now here with the same post in the hope that somebody out there has a fix for this month old issue.
I’m using my website as a social community with buddypress, so as you can imagine being able to upload images is a 100% requirement!!!
Here are the steps that I take when uploading, the themes im using and themes i have tried and steps taken to try and fix the issue.
1. Theme BuddyBoss latest version
2. WordPress latest version
3. Buddypress latest version
4. all plugins up to date
5. Large files fail to show in library but do show if you click on ‘edit’ whilst in the media library.
6. Uploaded images show as greyed out boxes in media library
7.Small images upload just fineSteps I have taken to fix this issue
1. Used default theme
2. de-activated all plugins
3. Raised php memory limit, contacted host to ensure that it had taken effect
4. Large files fail to show in library but do show if you click on ‘edit’ whilst in the media library.
5. Followed every bit of advice I could find on the Forum here and else where, but so far all fixes just don’t work.Answers

AlyssaParticipant@jerseypeeps have you tried a different hosting provider?
I know it’s a lot of work but once you eliminate the impossible, whever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the issue.October 19, 2014 at 2:44 am #32703@
AnonymousI moved from Hostgator to Knownhost, who would you recommend for hosting?

AnonymousAlso due to this error i have been playing around with Socialengine which i dumped a few years ago in favour of buddypress. All images upload fine to the socialengine website, so guessing its a wordpress issue and not a hosting issue

AlyssaParticipant@jerseypeeps you mean since it works on socialengine it must be a hosting issue and NOT a WP issue 😉

Anonymous@tjchester no the version i’m testing / used previously was the php version of socialengine which is on the same vps hosting package as my current buddypress website and it has no problem uploading large files.
So it IS a WP issue 😉 and NOT a HOSTING issue 😉

AlyssaParticipantAlright, not sure who to recommend any more. Seems like everyday someone else has issues. I previously recommended hostgator, but I’ve started to get reports with WP issues with them.

AnonymousNah I left HG 2 years ago and have been with knownhost, i’ll contact them again to make sure the issue is not with the package i’m on.
If not do you know of any good trustworthy WP dev out there who can go over my WP site to find the problem and fix it?

AlyssaParticipant@jerseypeeps I do not personally know of any WP devs out there. Sorry.
@michael do you have any recommendations?October 23, 2014 at 11:10 am #32833@george123William.. PM me for a link to my website. I can help you out.
Also, we used HG for years, then moved to a couple others, and settled on Site5. Not a single problem hosting over 30 sites.. crossing my fingers.. but it’s been a year with no issues.
