Here's how to fix WP ENGINE and Buddypress AJAX Issue

Just sharing how I fixed an issue with Buddypress, Ajax, and WP Engine. I use WP Engine to host my site and I noticed an issue in Groups where the Like button, favorite button and reply button weren’t working dynamically as they should since they use Ajax. Instead, any time I used them they would pause then the whole web page would be refreshed / re-drawn.

Based on the advice of TJ here, I contacted WP Engine and sure enough, the issue was on their end. There’s an issue with the Heartbeat API. They fixed it and told me that if I add any additional buddypress sites in the future, to open a ticket and tell the support agent you need the heartbeat autosave turned off.
