Enable and Configure On-Screen Notifications in BuddyBoss

On-screen notifications display real-time alerts to members while they are actively browsing your site – instantly informing them about new messages, mentions, or group updates. You can control where notifications appear on screen, whether they show on mobile devices, how long they stay visible, and whether the browser tab updates to show unread counts. This manual walks you through each setting.

  Accessing On-Screen Notification Settings

To access these settings, navigate to your WordPress Dashboard, go to BuddyBoss > Settings > Notifications, then click On-screen Notifications from the left menu.

On-Screen Notification Settings

The following settings are available to configure how on-screen notifications behave across your community:

  • Enable on-screen notifications: Activates live notification alerts for members while they are browsing pages on your site.
  • Position on Screen: Choose where notification alerts appear – Bottom Left or Bottom Right. Select a position that avoids overlapping important UI elements.
  • Show on-screen notifications on small screens: Enables notifications on devices with screen widths smaller than 500px.
  • Automatically Hide: Controls how long notifications stay visible. Select Never Hide to keep notifications visible until dismissed, or choose a duration to automatically clear them after a set time.
  • Show new notifications in the title of the browser tab: Updates the browser tab title when new notifications are received, so members can see activity even when viewing another tab.
