How to Create Bundle IDs for Your iOS Apps

Updated

A Bundle ID is a unique identifier used by Apple to identify your BuddyBoss App. You need separate Bundle IDs for your Release App and Test App to manage app distribution and testing. Each Bundle ID must be registered in your Apple Developer account with the required capabilities, including Push Notifications and Sign In with Apple.

Create Your Release App Bundle ID

  1. Log in to your Apple Developer account using the Apple ID associated with your Apple Developer Program membership.
  2. Navigate to Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles.
  3. Select Identifiers from the sidebar.
  4. Click the + button to create a new identifier.
  5. Select App IDs and click Continue.
  6. Select App as the identifier type, then click Continue.
  7. Enter a Description, such as Release App.
  8. Under Bundle ID, select Explicit and enter your preferred Bundle ID, such as com.fruit.oranges.
  9. Under Capabilities, enable the following:
    • Push Notifications
    • Sign In with Apple
  10. Click Continue, review the details, and click Register.

Create Your Test App Bundle ID

  1. In your Apple Developer account, navigate to Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles > Identifiers.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. Select App IDs and click Continue.
  4. Select App as the identifier type, then click Continue.
  5. Enter a Description, such as Test App.
  6. Under Bundle ID, select Explicit and enter a different Bundle ID, such as com.fruit.oranges.test.
  7. Under Capabilities, enable the following:
    • Push Notifications
    • Sign In with Apple
  8. Click Continue, review the details, and click Register.

Important: Your Release App and Test App must have different Bundle IDs. Make sure the Bundle IDs match the identifiers configured for your respective apps in BuddyBoss App > Configure > iOS Settings.
