What is BP xProfile Location?
BP xProfile Location adds a dedicated Location field type to BuddyBoss member profiles, powered by the Google Places API. When members enter their address in a profile field, Google Places autocomplete suggests validated addresses as they type. Members select their location from the dropdown and it saves as a consistent, searchable string. No mistyped cities, no inconsistent formats, and no ambiguous location data.
The plugin also saves optional latitude and longitude geocode data alongside each address, making that location data available for member map solutions like BP Maps for Members. It integrates with BuddyBoss Profile Search to enable distance-based member filtering, and you can create multiple Location fields on a single profile for different purposes.

Location Profile Field Type
Adds a new “Location” field type to BuddyBoss profile fields. Create Location fields from Dashboard > BuddyBoss > Profiles > Profile Fields, just like any other profile field type.

How to Integrate BP xProfile Location with BuddyBoss
Setting up BP xProfile Location with BuddyBoss takes just a few minutes. Follow these steps to get started:

Install BP xProfile Location
Download and activate BP xProfile Location from WordPress.org via Plugins > Add New. The plugin requires BuddyBoss Platform to be installed and activated on your site.

Add Your Google Maps API Key
Go to Dashboard > BuddyBoss > Integrations > PhiloPress. Enter your Google Maps API key and save. This key enables Google Places autocomplete and geocoding for Location fields.

Create a Location Profile Field
Go to Dashboard > BuddyBoss > Profiles > Profile Fields and click Add New Field. Select “Location” as the field type. Optionally enable “Save Geocode” to store latitude and longitude data alongside the address.

Add a Field Description
Set the field description to instruct members to select from the Google Places dropdown rather than typing a free-form address. Members who skip the dropdown selection will not generate geocode data for distance search and maps.

Enable Distance Search
To enable distance-based member filtering, go to BuddyBoss > Profile Search and set the search mode for the Location field to “Distance.” Members can then filter the member directory by radius from any address.
