Buddy User Notes + BuddyBoss Integration
Give Your Members a Private Space to Track Their Connections
What is Buddy User Notes?
Buddy User Notes lets your BuddyBoss members write private notes and set reminders about other members, all from a dedicated tab on their profile page. Notes are visible only to the member who wrote them, so every member maintains their own private record of conversations, context, or follow-up items.
Admins can assign note-writing permissions by user role and review all notes and reminders from a searchable dashboard in WordPress. The plugin works directly with BuddyBoss member profiles and the notification system to keep members informed when their reminders come due.
Developed by PhiloPress and now maintained by BuddyDev, Buddy User Notes is built specifically for the BuddyBoss Platform and requires no additional plugins beyond BuddyBoss to work.
Key Features of Buddy User Notes
My Notes Profile Tab
Adds a dedicated My Notes tab to every BuddyBoss member profile. Members access their notes and reminders in one place without leaving the community.
Private Member Notes
Members write personal notes about any other member on the site. Notes are only visible to the member who created them, keeping all records completely private.
Date-Based Reminders
Members set a specific date for a reminder on any member’s profile. The reminder fires within 24 hours of the chosen date, so nothing falls through the cracks.
Notification and Email Alerts
BuddyBoss sends both an in-site notification and an email when a reminder is due. Members can opt out of email alerts while keeping the in-site notification active.
Role-Based Permissions
Admins choose which user roles can create notes and reminders. You control who gets the feature, whether that’s all members, specific tiers, or staff only.
Admin Notes Dashboard
View, sort, and search every note and reminder on the site from WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Buddy User Notes. Admins get full visibility without accessing individual profiles.

Use Cases and Examples
Professional Networks Tracking Member Relationships
Members in business and professional communities often meet dozens of people and need a way to remember context about each connection. With Buddy User Notes, members write a private note on any profile right after an interaction, recording what was discussed or agreed. Their notes appear on the member’s profile tab the next time they visit, so every follow-up conversation starts with context.

Coaching Communities Following Student Progress
Coaches and instructors in BuddyBoss communities use Buddy User Notes to track individual student notes without keeping separate spreadsheets. A coach visits a student’s BuddyBoss profile, records their latest progress note privately, and sets a reminder for a check-in date. BuddyBoss sends a notification when the reminder is due, prompting the coach to reconnect at the right moment.

Membership Sites with Sales or Support Teams
Community managers and support staff on paid membership sites use Buddy User Notes to track member issues, requests, or upgrade conversations. Admins assign the note-writing permission only to staff user roles, keeping the feature scoped to the team. The admin dashboard shows every staff note and reminder in a searchable list, giving managers a live view of member interactions across the entire site.

Benefits of Integrating Buddy User Notes with BuddyBoss

- Profile-Integrated Notes: Every note lives on the member’s BuddyBoss profile tab, not in a separate app or spreadsheet. Members open a profile, click My Notes, and see everything they’ve recorded about that person. The integration means notes are always in context, right where the relationship exists.
- Timely Reminders via BuddyBoss Notifications: Reminders trigger BuddyBoss’s notification system, delivering an in-site alert and email within 24 hours of the due date. Members do not need to check a calendar or external tool. The community platform handles the nudge automatically.
- Private by Design: Notes are visible only to the member who wrote them. No other member or moderator can read them through a profile page. This privacy model encourages members to use notes freely without worrying about visibility.
- Admin Control Without Micromanagement: Admins set which user roles can create notes and reminders once, then step back. The permission system inside BuddyBoss role settings means you do not need to manage individual member access. When you want to expand or restrict the feature, one checkbox change applies site-wide.

- Full Visibility from One Dashboard: The admin notes dashboard gives community managers a sortable, searchable list of every note and reminder on the site. You can identify how members are using the feature, spot unusual patterns, and respond to support needs without digging through individual profiles.
- Works Across Your BuddyBoss Setup: Buddy User Notes is built for the BuddyBoss Platform and works with the existing profile tab system, notification settings, and user role controls. There is no conflict with other BuddyBoss features and no separate configuration layer to manage.
