How to Configure the Who’s Online Widget in BuddyBoss Theme

Updated

Introduction

The Who’s Online Widget displays members who are currently online on your site. Adding this widget helps create a sense of real-time community activity, encouraging users to interact and connect with others who are active at the same time.

Adding and Configuring the Widget

  1. Go to Appearance > Widgets in your WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Select the widget area where you want to display the list (e.g., Activity Directory Left).
  3. Click the + icon and search for Who’s Online.
  1. Add the Who’s Online Widget to the selected area.
  2. Configure the following options:
    • Title – Enter a custom title (e.g., Who’s Online or Currently Active Members).
    • Max Members to Show – Define the maximum number of online members to display.
  3. Click Update to save your changes.

Verifying the Widget

  1. Go to the Activity Feed on the frontend.
  2. The Who’s Online Widget will appear in the sidebar (e.g., left side of the Activity Directory), showing a list of members currently online.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Q: The widget isn’t displaying any members.
A: This can occur if no users are currently online. Try again when members are active on the site.

Q: Can I control how many users appear in the list?
A: Yes. You can set the Max Members to Show value in the widget settings.

Q: How does BuddyBoss determine who’s online?
A: The system automatically detects active users based on recent site activity, such as page visits or interactions.
