How to Import BuddyBoss Platform Sample Data

Introduction

The Sample Data tool lets you populate your BuddyBoss site with demo members, groups, forums, activity posts, and other community content. This is useful for testing features, previewing your community layout, or building a development or staging environment before launching your live site.

Important: Sample data is intended for testing purposes. It is recommended to use this feature on a development or staging site rather than a live production website.

Access the Sample Data Tool

To access the Sample Data page:

1. Log in to your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
2. Go to BuddyBoss > Settings.
3. Click Tools.
4. Select Sample Data.

The page displays all available sample data categories that can be imported.

Available Sample Data

You can import sample content for the following areas of your community.

Members

Populate your site with demo members and related content, including:

• Profile Fields (with data)
• Member Connections
• Activity Posts
• Private Messages

These options simulate member interactions and profile information.

Groups

Create sample community groups along with related content such as:

• Group Members
• Group Activity Posts
• Forums in Groups (with data)

This helps demonstrate how groups function within your community.

Forums

Populate your discussion forums with sample conversations, including:

• Discussions
• Replies

These sample posts allow you to preview forum layouts and interactions.

Import Sample Data

To import sample content:

1. Select the checkbox for each type of sample data you want to import.
2. Choose one or multiple data categories.
3. Click Import Selected Data.
4. Wait for the import process to complete.

Note: Some imports may require significant database resources. Avoid running multiple imports simultaneously.

Remove Sample Data

If you no longer need the imported demo content:

1. Return to BuddyBoss > Settings > Tools > Sample Data.
2. Click Clear Default Data.
3. Wait for the removal process to finish.

This removes the imported BuddyBoss sample content from your site.

When Should You Use Sample Data?

Sample data is useful when you want to:

• Preview how a BuddyBoss community looks with active members.
• Test community features before launch.
• Evaluate layouts and navigation.
• Demonstrate your site to clients or stakeholders.
• Build and test a staging environment.
