How to Use the Repair Platform Tool

Introduction

The Repair Platform tool allows you to recalculate, repair, and synchronize various BuddyBoss data when information becomes out of sync. This can happen after importing users, migrating a website, restoring a backup, updating plugins, or making significant changes to your community.

The tool includes a collection of repair utilities for members, profiles, groups, media, forums, messages, connections, emails, and more.

Important: Only run repair tools that are relevant to the issue you are experiencing. Running unnecessary repairs may take time on larger communities.

Access the Repair Platform Tool

To access the Repair Platform page:

1. Log in to your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
2. Go to BuddyBoss > Settings.
3. Click Tools.
4. Select Repair Platform.

You’ll see a list of available repair options organized into categories.

Understanding the Repair Categories

The Repair Platform groups repair tools by feature, making it easier to locate the repair you need.

Members & Profiles

These tools repair and synchronize member-related information, including:

• Repair total members count
• Repair member “last activity” data
• Repair default profile set and fields
• Re-sync BuddyBoss profile fields to WordPress profile fields
• Re-sync WordPress profile fields to BuddyBoss profile fields
• Update display name to selected format in profile settings
• Re-Sync Profile Completion widget profile photo status
• Repair BuddyBoss profile repeater field sets
• Repair user nicknames
• Migrate visibility settings of profile fields to the new structure
• Repair member profile links

Use these tools if member profiles, counts, or profile information appear incorrect.

Groups

Group repair tools include:

• Repair total groups count for each member
• Create the database table for Invitations and migrate existing group invitations if needed
• Recalculate the total members count for each group
• Migrate Group forum and discussion subscriptions data structure to the new subscription flow

These repairs are useful after importing groups or migrating community data.

Media

Media repair tools help restore relationships for:

• Repair videos
• Repair forum video privacy
• Repair media
• Repair forum media privacy
• Repair messages media
• Repair documents

Run these tools if uploaded content is missing or media permissions are incorrect.

Forums & Discussions

Forum repair options include:

• Recalculate the parent discussion for each post
• Recalculate the parent forum for each post
• Recalculate private and hidden forums
• Recalculate last activity in each discussion and forum
• Recalculate the sticky relationship of each discussion
• Recalculate the position of each reply
• Repair social group forum relationships
• Count discussions in each forum
• Count replies in each forum
• Count replies in each discussion
• Count members in each discussion
• Count spammed & trashed replies in each discussion
• Count discussions for each user
• Count replies for each user
• Remove trashed discussions from user favorites
• Remove trashed discussions from user subscriptions
• Remove trashed forums from user subscriptions
• Remap existing users to default forum roles
• Remove and restore Wordpress default role capabilities
• Migrate BBPress (up to v2.5.14) forum and discussion subscriptions to BuddyBoss
• Migrate BBPress (v2.6+) forum and discussion subscriptions to BuddyBoss
• Migrate members discussions ‘marked as favorites’ data to improve performance

These tools are commonly used after forum imports or major forum updates.

Messages

Repairs the unread private message count for members.

Moderation

Repairs moderation-related data used by the BuddyBoss moderation system.

Connections

These tools repair:

• Repair total connections count for each member
• Repopulate site tracking records
• Assign members without a profile type to the default profile type (excludes admins)
• Migrate BuddyPress group courses to BuddyBoss group courses for TutorLMS

Activity & Reactions

Repairs BuddyPress activity favorites by migrating them to the BuddyBoss reactions system.

Emails

Email repair tools allow you to:

• Install missing emails (restore missing emails from defaults)
• Reset emails (delete and restore from defaults)

These options are useful if email templates are missing or have become corrupted.

Running a Repair

Once you’ve identified the repair you need:

1. Check the box next to the repair option.
2. You may select multiple repairs if appropriate.
3. Click Repair Items at the bottom of the page.
4. Wait for the repair process to complete.

Depending on the size of your community, some repairs may take several minutes.

Using “Select All”

The Select All option selects every available repair task.

This option is generally recommended only when instructed by BuddyBoss Support or when performing a comprehensive repair after a major migration.
